The Big Comeback - Billy Buchanan

St. Augustine-based singer/songwriter Billy Buchanan isn’t letting the pandemic keep him down, and he’s proving that with the release of his tenth album, “The Big Comeback.” Featuring songs like the title track, “Over and Done (Mary We Go Round),” and “Strange Bed,” the album tackles different obstacles many have faced throughout the course of the pandemic.

Buchanan says at the time the world started going into lockdown, it wasn’t his intention to start working on anything new. Throughout the pandemic, though, Buchanan has faced a number of challenges, having to find different creative outlets to continue sharing his talents, and he also saw the strain that being stuck at home with loved ones had on a number of relationships. His title track tells the story of how he had to work harder than ever to continue his passion of sharing his music with others.

With the pandemic inspiring the words in the songs, the sound feels like you’re being pulled back into the 50s or 60s. Being inspired by artists like. Marvin Gaye, The Temptations, and Prince, Buchanan says he loves how the musicians back in the day were able to write songs showing true pain and overall realness.

As concerts are starting to pop back up in our area, Buchanan’s schedule is starting to fill up. With events everywhere from the San Sebastian Winery to Nocatee, audiences will be able to hear his new hits live and in person throughout the summer.

“I always know I’m on the right track when people keep dancing to the songs I wrote,” Buchanan said.
